FCS Facades developed from Marcus Alcindor’s working relationship with Tomasz Słowiak. Their complementary strengths were clear: Marcus focused on opportunity, commercial structure and client relationships, while Tom led delivery.

The new business secured its first major project, a hotel in Sheffield, through a relationship that remains important to Marcus today. Turnover grew quickly, but the early years also delivered a lasting lesson: revenue alone does not make a successful company. Commercial control, operational discipline and profitability matter equally.

The business was strengthened through experience, restructuring and a deeper understanding of the façades market. In 2023, long standing client McAleer & Rushe acquired a 50 per cent interest, marking a significant stage in the company’s development.

Marcus stepped back from day to day involvement in 2025 to concentrate on wider investments and new ventures. FCS remains an important part of his business history and a demonstration of what can be built through persistence, partnership and the willingness to learn from difficult periods.
